Patna | Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge strongly criticised the Modi government while addressing the Extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting at the historic Sadaqat Ashram in Patna, Bihar. He said that India is passing through one of the most challenging and worrying times, both nationally and internationally, due to the failures of the present government.

Kharge said that the foreign policy mistakes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have created crises for the country. He also alleged that the government is tampering with the voter list, which is an attack on democracy and the Constitution. “The foundation of democracy is fair and transparent elections, but serious questions are being raised on the impartiality of the Election Commission,” he said.

Speaking on Bihar, Kharge accused the BJP-led NDA government of failing to deliver on promises. He highlighted unemployment, farmer distress, migration of youth, floods, poor health facilities, and lack of development. “The double engine government has proved hollow. Bihar’s unemployment rate is over 15%, and farmers suffer heavy losses every year,” he added.

The Congress President also targeted the Prime Minister for failing to fulfil promises of doubling farmers’ income and reviving Bihar’s sugar industry. He said the plight of farmers and the rise in crime show the complete failure of both the state and central governments.

Kharge stressed that the people of Bihar want employment, education, health, social justice, and good governance not religious polarisation. He announced that the Congress Party, along with its alliance partners, will work for the reconstruction of Bihar and fulfil the long-standing dream of a “golden Bihar.”

Looking ahead to the 2025 Assembly elections, Kharge declared, “This election will not only be important for Bihar but for the entire country. It will mark the beginning of the countdown and the end of the corrupt rule of the Modi government.”
