US President Donald Trump Mediates Peace Between India and Pakistan and Announces Historic Ceasefire

Washington DC / New Delhi |In a major diplomatic breakthrough, United States President Donald J. Trump announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire.” The announcement came after a long night of discussions mediated by the United States government.
In his post on X (@realDonaldTrump), President Trump said, “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence.”
He further praised the leadership of both nations in a separate statement on ‘Truth Details’, saying:
“I am very proud of the strong and unwaveringly powerful leadership of India and Pakistan for having the strength, wisdom, and fortitude to fully know and understand that it was time to stop the current aggression that could have lead to to the death and destruction of so many, and so much. Millions of good and innocent people could have died! Your legacy is greatly enhanced by your brave actions. I am proud that the USA was able to help you arrive at this historic and heroic decision. While not even discussed, I am going to increase trade, substantially, with both of these great Nations. Additionally, I will work with you both to see if, after a “thousand years,” a solution can be arrived at concerning Kashmir. God Bless the leadership of India and Pakistan on a job well done !!!”
India Reiterates Firm Stand Against Terrorism, Says Jaishankar
India Agrees to Ceasefire But Stays Tough on Terror
Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said that India and Pakistan have reached an understanding to stop all military actions. However, he made it clear that India will not compromise on its fight against terrorism.
“India has consistently maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. It will continue to do so,” he said on X (@DrSJaishankar).
Ceasefire Confirmed by Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed in a press briefing that a ceasefire agreement has been reached after a call between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO) of both countries.
During the press briefing, he said that : “Director General of Military Operations of Pakistan called the Director General of Military Operations of India at 15:35 hours, earlier this afternoon. It was agreed between them that both sides would stop all firing and military action on land, in the air and sea with effect from 17:00 hours IST today the 10th May 2025.
Instructions have been given on both sides to give effect to this understanding. The Directors General of Military Operations will talk again on May 12 at 12:00 hours, states the Foreign Secretary.”
Ceasefire Violated by Pakistan, Warns India
India Issues Strong Response to Ceasefire Breach
In a late-night briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri reported violations by Pakistan just hours after the ceasefire was announced.
While addressing the briefing, he said that : “For the last few hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding arrived at earlier this evening between the Directors General of Military Operations of India and Pakistan,”
Misri said this was “A breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today. The Armed Forces are giving an adequate and appropriate response to these violations and we take very very serious note of these violations. We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility. The armed forces are maintaining a strong vigil on the situation. They have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations of the borders along the international border as well as the Line of Control,” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chairs a high level meeting
Before the Ceasefire announcement, The Prime Minister’s Office posted on X;
“A high level meeting was chaired by PM @narendramodi at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. Those who attended the meeting included Defence Minister @rajnathsingh, NSA Ajit Doval, CDS General Anil Chauhan, armed forces chiefs and senior officials.”
