New Delhi | Congress leader Rahul Gandhi raised concerns over what he termed as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attempt to manipulate the upcoming General Elections. Speaking at the ‘Save Democracy’ mega rally organized by the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi, Gandhi cautioned against what he likened to the fixing of cricket matches.

Rahul Gandhi refuted Prime Minister Modi’s claims of securing 400 seats in the elections, asserting that such a feat would only be possible through the manipulation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and other coercive tactics. Entire NDA can’t cross 180 without EVM manipulation. Drawing parallels to the methods used in fixing cricket matches, Rahul highlighted the appointment of favorable Election Commissioners, alleged pressure on the judiciary and the imprisonment of opposition leaders as indicators of foul play.

Furthermore, Rahul pointed out the freezing of Congress party bank accounts at the onset of the election process, which he interpreted as a deliberate attempt to hinder their campaigning efforts. He accused the BJP of harboring intentions to amend the constitution, citing a BJP MP’s statement regarding the need for 400 seats for constitutional changes.

Expressing grave concern, Rahul Gandhi emphasized that any attempt to alter the constitution would lead to unrest and division within the country, jeopardizing its unity. He underscored the significance of the upcoming elections, portraying it as a pivotal moment in determining the nation’s future, democracy and constitutional integrity.

Rahul Gandhi urged voters to exercise their franchise judiciously, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding social justice, ensuring fair representation, guaranteeing minimum support prices (MSP), creating employment opportunities and upholding the principles of democracy and freedom.

In conclusion, Rahul Gandhi’s cautionary remarks serve as a call to action for citizens to remain vigilant against potential electoral malpractice and to actively participate in shaping the destiny of the nation.
