Speaking to the media after visiting the landslide site, Priyanka Gandhi said, “We should take some temporary measures to ensure that the debris and mud we can see do not flow into the river. Permanent measures can be taken once the inquiry is complete.”
She also criticised the Central Government, alleging that it has shown political bias in providing assistance during natural disasters. “The Centre has always shown political bias. It is the same in states like Himachal Pradesh and elsewhere. So we cannot really depend on them much. We have done whatever we can, and we will continue to do so,” she said.
Later, Priyanka Gandhi visited the construction site of the rehabilitation township being built by the Congress party for the survivors of the Chooralmala-Mundakkai landslides. She reviewed the progress of the project and expressed satisfaction over the efforts being made to provide safe housing for the affected families.

Referring to the developments at the national level, Priyanka Gandhi said the day marked an important moment in the country’s democratic journey. She said that thousands of students across India had protested peacefully for their rights, placing the future of the country’s youth above their own interests. She stated that despite attempts to suppress their voices, the students remained united and the government was ultimately compelled to accept their demand for the resignation of the Union Education Minister.
She said the developments reaffirm the strength of Indian democracy and the determination of the younger generation to build a better future for the nation. According to her, the commitment shown by the youth gives hope for the country’s future.
