Karnataka | AICC General Secretary, Smt. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, addressed a large public gathering in Chitradurga and Bengaluru today, where she took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of leveraging religious sentiments for political gain rather than highlighting his achievements.

While addressing the gathering in Chitradurga, Priyanka Gandhi questioned PM Modi’s reliance on divisive tactics, urging him to seek votes based on his performance rather than exploiting caste, religion and public emotions. She emphasized that the BJP’s ten-year tenure lacked substantial accomplishments, leading them to resort to distraction tactics.

Highlighting concerns over rising prices and widespread unemployment, Gandhi cautioned voters against being swayed by exaggerated claims of PM Modi’s international stature. She urged citizens to assess the impact of policies on their lives before casting their votes.

Gandhi criticized the government’s alleged favoritism towards billionaire associates of the Prime Minister, cautioning against potential changes to the constitution that could undermine rights and privileges. She stressed the importance of safeguarding democracy and the constitution for the welfare of all citizens.

Addressing issues of corruption and electoral malpractice, Gandhi highlighted the discrepancies surrounding the electoral bond scheme and the adverse effects of demonetization on ordinary citizens. She expressed solidarity with opposition leaders facing harassment and intimidation.

Promising relief measures for farmers and initiatives to tackle unemployment, Gandhi outlined the Congress party’s proposed policies, including debt waivers, guaranteed minimum support prices and employment schemes for graduates and diploma holders.

Priyanka Gandhi Counters Modi’s Mangalsutra Remark, Cites Sacrifice for Nation

Bengaluru | Congress General Secretary, Smt. Priyanka Gandhi, took a strong stance against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent comment regarding the Congress party allegedly snatching away women’s Mangalsutras.

Addressing a public gathering in Bengaluru, Gandhi accused Modi of attempting to divert attention from pressing issues by exploiting religious sentiments. She emphasized that the Congress party’s history disproves Modi’s divisive claims, highlighting instances where women’s jewelry, including her mother’s Mangalsutra, was sacrificed for the nation’s welfare.

Referring to her grandmother, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s donation of jewelry during times of conflict, Gandhi pointedly addressed Modi’s insinuations. She invoked the memory of her father, late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination, underscoring the personal sacrifice her family has endured for the nation.

Gandhi questioned Modi’s silence on the hardships faced by women during demonetization and agricultural distress, where many had to part with their Mangalsutras. She also raised concerns about instances of violence against women, challenging the Prime Minister’s inaction.

Asserting the Congress party’s commitment to women’s welfare and dignity, Gandhi announced initiatives such as providing financial assistance to women in poor families and ensuring 50 percent reservation for women in government jobs.
