Prime Minister Narendra Modi Inaugurates Boeing’s Largest Investment Outside the USA in Bengaluru

Bengaluru | Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the doors to Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center’s (BIETC) new state-of-the-art campus in Bengaluru. The grand inauguration of the 43-acre facility, constructed with a staggering investment of Rs. 1,600 crores, marks Boeing’s most significant financial commitment outside the United States. The sprawling campus is poised to play a pivotal role in fostering collaboration with India’s dynamic startup ecosystem, private enterprises, and government entities, propelling the development of cutting-edge products and services for the global aerospace and defense industry.
Addressing the gathered audience, Prime Minister Modi emphasized Bengaluru’s unique position as a city connecting aspirations to innovations and achievements, and India’s tech potential to global demands. He lauded the Boeing technology campus, foreseeing it as a catalyst that not only fortifies India but also enhances the aviation market worldwide. The Prime Minister highlighted the facility’s scale and magnitude, asserting its potential to strengthen India’s commitment to global tech, research, innovation, design, and demand, aligning with the ‘Make in India-Make for the World’ initiative.

In a notable announcement, Prime Minister Modi launched the Boeing Sukanya Program, aimed at fostering increased participation of girls in India’s growing aviation sector. The initiative seeks to provide opportunities for girls and women across the country to acquire essential skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, facilitating their training for jobs in the aviation industry. The program will establish STEM Labs at 150 planned locations, offer scholarships to women aspiring to be pilots, and contribute to breaking gender barriers in the aerospace sector.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to fostering women’s participation across sectors, Prime Minister Modi underscored India’s leadership in the global aviation community. Proudly sharing that 15 percent of India’s pilots are women, three times the global average, he expressed confidence in the Boeing Sukanya Program’s potential to boost women’s involvement in the aviation sector. The program is set to empower individuals in remote areas to pursue dreams of becoming pilots, offering career coaching and development facilities in government schools as part of this visionary initiative.
