New Delhi | Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired an important meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to review the steps being taken in view of the ongoing West Asia conflict. The meeting focused on assessing the current situation and planning further actions to protect the country’s interests.
During the meeting, various Ministries and Departments presented updates on measures taken so far. Key sectors such as energy, agriculture, fertilisers, aviation, shipping, logistics and MSMEs were discussed in detail to address any possible challenges arising from the conflict.
The government reviewed steps to ensure stability in essential supplies. This included diversifying sources for LPG and LNG, reducing fuel duties and taking necessary measures in the power sector. It was also noted that sufficient coal stock is available in the country to meet power needs in the coming months.
Special attention was given to maintaining stable prices of essential commodities. The government has directed strict action against hoarding and black-marketing. Control rooms have been set up to continuously monitor the situation and coordinate with States and Union Territories for effective enforcement of the Essential Commodities Act.
The Prime Minister also reviewed the availability of fertilisers in the country. Efforts are being made to maintain urea production and ensure timely supply of DAP and NPK fertilisers through coordination with international suppliers. This is important to support farmers during the upcoming Kharif and Rabi seasons.
The meeting also focused on ensuring that the basic needs of common citizens are met without disruption. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of providing accurate and timely information to the public to prevent rumours and misinformation.
The Prime Minister directed all departments to remain alert and work in close coordination to minimise the impact of the West Asia conflict on India. He expressed confidence that with timely action and strong cooperation between the Centre and States, the country will be able to maintain stability and safeguard the interests of its citizens.
