New Delhi, May 12 – Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the nation today through videoconference. In his speech, he spoke about India’s strong and balanced response to terrorism in recent days. He saluted the bravery of the Indian Army, intelligence agencies and scientists for successfully completing ‘Operation Sindoor’.
The Prime Minister said the whole country is proud of the soldiers who carried out the operation with great courage and discipline. He dedicated this bravery to every mother, sister and daughter of India.
Talking about the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, Shri Modi said it shocked not only India but the whole world. Innocent people enjoying their holidays were killed after being asked about their religion. He called it a cruel and shameful act that tried to break the country’s unity. He said all Indians stood together and demanded strong action. The government gave full freedom to the armed forces to act, and they responded with power.
Operation Sindoor, he said, was not just a mission—it was an emotional promise to deliver justice. On May 6–7, India launched precise missile and drone attacks on terrorist bases inside Pakistan. Terror camps in places like Bahawalpur and Muridke, which had links to past global attacks including 9/11 and the London bombings, were completely destroyed. Over 100 terrorists, including top planners, were eliminated.

Shri Modi said these strikes shocked Pakistan. Instead of fighting terrorism, Pakistan attacked Indian schools, temples and homes. But India’s advanced defense systems destroyed their drones and missiles in the air. Indian forces struck back, damaging Pakistani airbases and causing huge losses within three days. On May 10, Pakistan requested to stop the tension and promised to end terrorist activities. India, after reviewing the situation, temporarily paused the counter-strikes but warned that it would continue to monitor every move.
The Prime Minister said that Operation Sindoor is now India’s new policy. He explained three strong pillars of the country’s security:
- Decisive Retaliation – India will respond strongly to every terror attack.
- No Fear of Nuclear Threats – India won’t be blackmailed by nuclear threats and will strike wherever needed.
- No Difference Between Terrorists and Their Supporters – India sees both terrorist groups and governments protecting them as the same.
He pointed out that senior Pakistani officers attended funerals of terrorists, proving Pakistan’s official support to terrorism. Shri Modi made it clear—India will continue to protect its people with full strength.
He praised India’s growing power in both traditional and modern warfare. He said India’s homemade defense systems have shown their strength to the world during this operation.
The Prime Minister also said that unity is India’s biggest strength in the fight against terrorism. He gave a strong warning to Pakistan: if it wants to survive, it must destroy all terror camps. India will only talk about one issue with Pakistan—terrorism and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, he reminded everyone of Lord Buddha’s message of peace, saying that strength is necessary to protect peace. He said India wants peace, but it will never hesitate to act when its dignity is attacked.
He ended his speech by once again saluting the courage of the Indian armed forces and the unity of all Indians, saying this spirit will lead India towards a strong and developed future — a Viksit Bharat.

“In conclusion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation was a strong message to the world that India stands united, powerful and determined to defeat terrorism in all forms. He made it clear that India’s fight is not just for its own safety, but for global peace and security. With the success of Operation Sindoor, India has entered a new era of bold and clear national policy—where terror will be answered with strength and unity will remain the country’s greatest shield. The Prime Minister’s words have inspired confidence and pride among every Indian, as the nation moves forward with courage, clarity and commitment.” ~ Dr. B R Abdul Wajid.
