16th BRICS Summit | Kazan (October 22, 2024) – During bilateral meeting with President of Russia Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him in the beautiful city of Kazan, where he is attending the BRICS Summit. He highlighted the deep historical ties between Kazan and India and noted that the opening of a new Indian consulate in Kazan will further strengthen these ties.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized the significance of his two visits to Russia in the past three months, reflecting the close coordination and deep friendship between the two nations. He mentioned that the cooperation between India and Russia has been significantly strengthened by the Annual Summit held in Moscow in July.

Prime Minister Modi Highlights India’s Role in Promoting Peace at BRICS Summit

Congratulating President Putin on the successful chairmanship of BRICS over the past year, Prime Minister Modi remarked on the unique identity BRICS has established in the last fifteen years. He noted that several countries around the world now wish to join BRICS, indicating its growing importance.

Addressing the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s stance that issues should be resolved through peaceful means. He expressed India’s full support for the earliest possible restoration of peace and stability, emphasizing that all efforts should prioritize humanity. Prime Minister Modi assured that India remains ready to provide all possible assistance in the future.
