Thiruvananthapuram, KERALAM | D. K. Shivakumar, Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka and President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, addressed a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram today.

Sharing his recent visit, Shivakumar said that he had gone to Kannur, the constituency of the Chief Minister, and interacted with local people. He said he asked them about investments, tourism opportunities, employment and industries in the region. According to him, people informed that no major development has taken place in the last 10 years under the LDF government.
He further stated that despite Kannur having natural advantages like sea, backwaters and hills, the area has not seen proper tourism growth or industrial development. He also raised concerns about unemployment and lack of job opportunities.

DK Shivakumar added that while many states are bringing innovation and development, Kerala is lagging behind. He pointed out that Kerala has highly educated and skilled people, many of whom are working in other states like Karnataka. He mentioned that a large number of engineers, doctors and nurses from Kerala are working outside due to lack of opportunities within the state.
Shivakumar alleged that the absence of investment and infrastructure reflects the overall failure of the state government.
He concluded by stating that the LDF government has failed to provide adequate growth, employment and development opportunities for the people of Kerala.
According to the Election Commission of India, the Keralam Legislative Assembly elections will be held on April 9, 2026 and the counting of votes will take place on May 4. The current Assembly’s term will end on May 23.
