New Delhi (28 April 2025) | Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, has written a letter to the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi urging him to convene a special session of Parliament.

In his letter, Kharge said that in this difficult time, when the country needs unity and solidarity, the opposition believes that it is important to hold a special session of both Houses of Parliament.

He stated that such a session would be a strong message to the nation and the world, showing our united stand against the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, where innocent citizens lost their lives.

Kharge expressed hope that the Prime Minister would take this request seriously and take steps to convene the session soon.

He said, “This will be a powerful demonstration of our collective resolve and will to deal with the situation.”

This appeal from Mallikarjun Kharge comes at a time when the country is mourning the loss of innocent lives in the Pahalgam attack. By calling for a united response in Parliament, the Opposition has shown that national security and peace are above politics. Now, all eyes are on the government’s decision regarding the special session.
