Mallikarjun Kharge stable after pacemaker procedure; PM Narendra Modi wishes him speedy recovery

Bengaluru | Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, 83, was admitted to Bengaluru’s MS Ramaiah Hospital after he complained of fever and pain in his leg. Doctors confirmed that his condition was stable.
His son Priyank Kharge, Karnataka’s Minister for Electronics, IT and Biotechnology, shared that Kharge had been advised a pacemaker implant. Later on Wednesday the 1st October night, Priyank Kharge posted a medical update on X, saying:
“The pacemaker implantation procedure for Sri. Kharge was successfully completed earlier today. It was a short and minor procedure and he has been stable after the procedure. He is expected to resume his work from October 3 and attend all his scheduled engagements. Our gratitude for the concern, support and affection extended by all.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to Mallikarjun Kharge and wished him well. In a message on X, PM Modi said:
“Spoke to Kharge Ji. Enquired about his health and wished him a speedy recovery. Praying for his continued well-being and long life.”
Kharge was earlier scheduled to travel to Kohima, Nagaland, on October 7 to address a major public rally at Naga Solidarity Park. With his health now stable, the Congress leadership is confident that he will soon be able to return to public engagements.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited MS Ramaiah Hospital to personally enquire about Kharge’s health condition.
