Bengaluru | Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Media and Communication Department Chairman and MLC Shri Ramesh Babu has said that the Congress Party accepts its defeat in Bihar, but the BJP should answer many questions regarding its performance in the state.

In a post on X, Ramesh Babu said that while the NDA has scored a big victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the results show a setback for Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. He pointed out that in the 2010 Bihar elections, when L.K. Advani was the tallest national leader of the BJP and Sushil Kumar Modi was leading the party in the state, the BJP had won 91 seats. But now, after nearly 15 years and under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the BJP has secured only 89 seats.

Ramesh Babu said it is surprising that BJP, which has grown strongly across the country in the Modi era, has failed to increase its seats in Bihar. He said this shows that Mr. Modi’s national popularity is not fully converting into a stronger presence for BJP in the state. According to him, BJP’s progress in Bihar still depends heavily on its regional partners, and there seems to be a limit to Modi’s influence in the state.

He added that the BJP always claims that Modi’s leadership brings big changes everywhere. But the Bihar results prove that even in a key NDA state, the BJP has not made major gains and has only matched its old performance.

Ramesh Babu said that the Congress Party will study the Bihar results and work harder to strengthen its support among the people. He also said that democracy becomes stronger when every party accepts the verdict of the voters and learns from the outcome. He added that the Congress will continue to raise people’s issues and hold the BJP accountable wherever necessary.
