KC Venugopal Demands Strict Action Against BJP Spokesperson for Death Threat to Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi | Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament, Shri KC Venugopal, has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding urgent and strict action against BJP spokesperson Printu Mahadev.

In his letter, Venugopal highlighted that during a televised debate on News18 Kerala, Printu Mahadev openly issued a death threat against the Leader of the Opposition, Shri Rahul Gandhi. Mahadev allegedly said, “Rahul Gandhi will be shot in the chest.” Venugopal described this as a “cold and calculated threat” and not just a casual remark.

He stated that such remarks not only put Rahul Gandhi’s life in danger but also seriously undermine the Constitution, the rule of law, and the safety guaranteed to every citizen. He also pointed out that the CRPF had already warned multiple times about threats to Rahul Gandhi’s life, and even a confidential letter from CRPF to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was mysteriously leaked to the media.

Venugopal further said that many such threats and hate campaigns against Rahul Gandhi have been spread on social media platforms linked to the BJP. He questioned whether the ruling party and the government support the politics of fear, intimidation and violence.

The Congress leader reminded that Rahul Gandhi represents a family that has sacrificed for the nation, with both Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi losing their lives in service of India. He warned that a death threat against Rahul Gandhi is not just an attack on an individual, but an assault on India’s democracy.

KC Venugopal finally urged the Home Minister to take immediate and exemplary legal action against Printu Mahadev. He said that failure to act swiftly would be seen as silent approval for violence against the Leader of the Opposition.

The concerns raised by KC Venugopal reflect the seriousness of the situation. A death threat to the Leader of the Opposition cannot be ignored, and it is now the responsibility of the Union Home Ministry to act swiftly and firmly. Immediate and strict legal action will not only ensure the safety of Rahul Gandhi but also uphold the democratic values and rule of law that protect every citizen of this country.
