He alleged that the people of Uttarakhand are disappointed and angry with the BJP government and are looking for a change. According to him, the Congress will work together with the people to bring that change in the state.
Raising issues affecting the state, Venugopal said unemployment and migration of youth remain major concerns. He questioned what the BJP government had achieved in the last ten years to reduce unemployment and stop migration. He also accused the state government of corruption, claiming that even BJP MLAs have spoken about the issue of commissions.
The Congress leader also alleged that repeated question paper leaks have damaged the state’s image. He said the Congress party would make the issue a major campaign point in the upcoming elections. He announced that the party would form a manifesto committee which will travel across Uttarakhand to gather suggestions from farmers, women, students and other sections of society before preparing a comprehensive election manifesto.
Speaking on the alleged financial irregularities related to donations for the Ram Mandir, Venugopal demanded a Supreme Court-monitored inquiry into the matter. He questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not responded to the concerns raised by the Congress party and alleged that the Central Government was trying to protect those responsible.
Venugopal reiterated that the Congress party would contest the Uttarakhand Assembly elections unitedly under the leadership of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, CPP Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. He expressed confidence that the party would secure a decisive victory in the 2027 Assembly elections.
