New Delhi : Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal has warned that the spectre of “Vote Chori” is the biggest danger facing Indian democracy today. In a message posted on social media platform X, he said that attempts are being made to weaken the Constitution and destroy the credibility of the electoral system in the country.
To send a strong message across the nation, Venugopal announced that the Indian National Congress will organise a “Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod Maha Rally” on December 14, 2025, at Ramlila Maidan, New Delhi, starting from 1.30 pm onwards. He said the rally will unite people from all sections of society to oppose alleged manipulation of elections.
Venugopal stated that the Congress has received crores of signatures from across India, rejecting what he described as unfair practices by the BJP and the Election Commission of India (ECI). He alleged that bogus voters are being added, opposition-inclined voters are being deleted and voter rolls are being manipulated on a large scale.

Addressing the media, Venugopal said that the Congress is running a massive nationwide signature campaign against vote chori. He informed that 5.50 crore citizens have already signed a memorandum, which the party plans to submit to the President of India. He said this reflects the growing concern among people about the integrity of elections.
He further said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, in three press conferences, presented evidence explaining how vote chori is allegedly taking place. Rahul Gandhi also raised several questions before the Election Commission of India, but the ECI has not responded so far, Venugopal claimed. He added that Rahul Gandhi had challenged the Union Home Minister to debate these issues, but there has been no response.
Venugopal said that awareness about vote chori has now spread across the country. He stressed that the Congress will not remain silent while the electoral system is under threat and said the upcoming rally marks the beginning of a larger fight to protect democracy and constitutional values.
