Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain Renominated for Rajya Sabha Elections 2024 by Congress, Recognized for Exemplary Leadership and Advocacy

Bengaluru | Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain, the incumbent Member of Parliament representing Karnataka in the Rajya Sabha, has been re-nominated by the Congress party for a second term in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections of 2024.

Dr. Hussain, renowned for his unwavering dedication to serving the people and his relentless advocacy for pressing issues both within and outside the Parliament, has been a pivotal figure in the political landscape of Karnataka and the nation at large. Throughout his first term in the Rajya Sabha, Dr. Hussain consistently amplified the voices of the common populace, shedding light on critical matters such as unemployment, inflation, GST implications on essential commodities, foreign policy challenges including Chinese aggression and internal strife such as the Manipur ethnic violence.

As a stalwart of the Opposition, Naseer Hussain has fearlessly championed causes of national importance, including opposition to contentious laws such as the farm bills, labour codes and the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC). His principled stance has led to his suspension on three occasions alongside fellow opposition MPs for raising pertinent issues within the Parliament.

Beyond his parliamentary duties, Dr. Hussain has been instrumental in galvanizing opposition forces both within and outside the legislative arena. His leadership qualities were recognized by the Congress party, leading to his appointment as the campaign manager for Shri Mallikarjun Kharge’s Congress Presidency bid and subsequent coordination role as Congress President’s coordinator.

Dr. Hussain’s contributions extend beyond the political realm, notably during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. Demonstrating exceptional leadership and compassion, he spearheaded relief efforts from the Congress headquarters in Delhi to the grassroots level in Karnataka, establishing COVID care centers, distributing essential supplies and even organizing the final rites for abandoned individuals, garnering admiration and support from his community.

A native of Ballari, Karnataka, Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain brings a wealth of experience from his tenure as President of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union and his service in various government capacities, including as chairman of two Labour Boards during the UPA Government. Armed with a Doctorate in International Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Dr. Hussain remains deeply engaged with contemporary political discourse, serving as the National Spokesperson of the Congress party, articulating its stance on diverse domestic and international issues across media platforms.
