Bhatkal : Dr. Muniri Atiqur Rehman, General Secretary of Rabita Society, Bhatkal and Member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, has expressed strong opposition to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025. Speaking to the Media, Dr. Muniri said that most of the religious scholars and spiritual leaders from across the country have completely rejected the Bill. He said the Bill is interference in the religious affairs of Muslims.
He further stated that there is deep sorrow and anger among Muslim communities after the passing of this Bill. Protests are being raised from different parts of the country against it. According to him, the Bill is not just a legal matter, but a dangerous move to harm the religious freedom of Muslims and create hatred between communities.
Dr. Muniri alleged that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 is part of a bigger conspiracy to take over Waqf properties belonging to the Muslim community.
He clearly said that this Bill will not be accepted in any form. The political parties which ruled for years with Muslim votes have now shown their real face. He advised the Muslim community to recognize such political parties and understand their true intentions.
Dr. Muniri said that the law brought in the name of sympathy towards Muslims is actually harmful and unacceptable. It is a sad thing that the government has completely ignored the concerns of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board and other Muslim organizations. He also criticized the government for not listening to the voices of opposition parties and civil society.
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has strongly opposed the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025, calling the government’s stance “regrettable.” In an official statement, AIMPLB General Secretary announced that the board will soon launch a nationwide protest and take legal action against the Bill.
In conclusion, Dr. Muniri Atiqur Rehman has firmly stated that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 poses a direct threat to the religious autonomy of Muslims in India. Under the guidance of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), we give priority to their leadership and stand in full support of them. Until our rights are restored in accordance with the Constitution and laws of India, we cannot tolerate any interference in Shariah matters. Emphasizing that this fight is not just about property but about preserving constitutional rights and religious freedom, he urged citizens, leaders and organizations to join hands in peaceful yet firm resistance against the Bill.
