Wayanad | Kerala – Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, DK Shivakumar, visited Wayanad on Saturday the 9th November 2024 for the parliamentary by-election campaign, rallying support for Smt Priyanka Gandhi, who is contesting from the Wayanad Parliamentary Constituency. He addressed gatherings in Kavanur, Wandoor, North Karashery and Padinjarathara. Shanthinagar MLA & BDA Chairman N A Haris was present during the election campaign along with DK Shivakumar.

While speaking in Wandoor, DK Shivakumar expressed his gratitude to the people of Kerala. He acknowledged the support from Keralites residing in Karnataka, who voted for the Congress in the last assembly elections and thanked the people of Wayanad for electing Rahul Gandhi during challenging times. This decision, he said, brought international recognition to Wayanad and Kerala.

Shivakumar praised the United Democratic Front (UDF) leaders for electing a national leader in Rahul Gandhi, who undertook the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, highlighting issues such as rising prices, communal conflicts and unemployment. He noted that the insights gained from the Yatra led to the implementation of five guarantees in Karnataka, which the BJP and its allies have falsely claimed were not executed.

DK Shivakumar recounted morning’s press conference in Mumbai where he, along with the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Himachal Pradesh, invited BJP leaders to witness the successful implementation of these programs in their states.

Shivakumar also shared that he and Revanth Reddy, being party presidents, had invited Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi to contest from Karnataka or Telangana. However, Rahul Gandhi chose to remain in Wayanad, valuing the support and communal harmony of its people.

Shivakumar expressed confidence in the UDF’s victory in the upcoming 2026 elections, anticipating good governance in Kerala. He reflected on the sacrifices made by the Gandhi family, including former prime ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi and the significant contributions of Jawaharlal Nehru. He also highlighted Sonia Gandhi’s refusal of the Prime Minister position to ensure the nation’s growth, leading to Manmohan Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister.

DK Shivakumar appealed to the people of Wayanad to support Priyanka Gandhi, emphasizing her dedication and understanding of people’s problems. He praised the secular and united spirit of Keralites and assured them of Karnataka’s solidarity.

DK Shivakumar urged the people to elect Priyanka Gandhi with a significant margin, affirming that the entire country stands with Wayanad in this crucial election.

He was joined by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and INC Karnataka President Shri DK Shivakumar, AICC Kerala in-charge Smt. The meeting took place in Mukkam, Thiruvambady Assembly Constituency, to garner support for Congress candidate Smt. Priyanka Gandhi in the upcoming Wayanad parliamentary bypoll.
