Congress Working Committee discusses paper leaks, donations, China border and delimitation

New Delhi | Today, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) held an important meeting at the Congress headquarters, Indira Bhawan, in New Delhi, under the leadership of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and other CWC members attended the meeting.

Addressing the CWC meeting, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge raised concerns over education, employment, transparency in donations and national security.
Speaking about the youth, Kharge said India is one of the youngest countries in the world, but young people are facing difficulties in getting quality education and meaningful employment. He said education is becoming expensive, schools are being closed and students are also facing paper leaks, irregularities in recruitment examinations and delays in appointments.
Kharge recalled former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s focus on youth, education and skills. He said the Congress must put forward a clear “Education-to-Employment” roadmap to provide better opportunities and a more secure future for young people.

Kharge also raised questions regarding the money, gold and other donations received by the Ram Mandir trust. He said people have the right to know how such donations are being accounted for and used. He stressed that any financial wrongdoing should be properly investigated and those responsible should be held accountable.
On national security, Kharge expressed concern over reports of Chinese encroachment along the borders, including Arunachal Pradesh. He said national security should not be used for political purposes and should not become a reason to prevent citizens from asking legitimate questions.

“We have the highest respect for our Armed Forces,” Kharge said, adding that questions about the government’s position and the situation along the borders should be answered by the government. He said people deserve transparency about what is happening along the borders.
Kharge said all these issues raise one important question — whether people can trust the government. He said the Congress would continue its struggle to safeguard democracy, uphold the Constitution and build a better future for the people of India and future generations.

Speaking to the media after the CWC meeting, Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal said four major issues were discussed at the meeting — paper leaks, “Chanda Chori”, China’s presence in Arunachal Pradesh and delimitation.
The CWC expressed deep gratitude to the people of Kerala for giving a strong mandate to the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), resulting in the formation of a Congress-led government with a Congress Chief Minister, Venugopal said.
He also said that in Tamil Nadu, the party formed a post-poll alliance government and effectively defeated what he described as the BJP’s attempts to capture power.
Venugopal said the Congress’ “Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan” for strengthening the party organisation is progressing across the country.
He said the party will complete the organisational strengthening process from the booth level to the state level within the next two months, before October 31.
