New Delhi : In a press briefing at the AICC Headquarters, Shri K.C. Venugopal, MP & General Secretary (Organisation), AICC, and Shri Ajay Maken, Treasurer, AICC, announced the launch of the Indian National Congress’s online crowdfunding initiative, ‘Donate for Desh.’ Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi Ji’s historic ‘Tilak Swaraj Fund’ of 1920-1921, the campaign aims to empower the party in creating an India rich in equal resource distribution and opportunities.
The inaugural campaign, ‘Donate for Behtar Bharat,’ commemorates the 138-year journey of the Indian National Congress. Supporters are invited to contribute multiples of Rs. 138, for example Rs. 138/-, Rs. 1,380/-, Rs. 13,800/- or more symbolizing the party’s enduring commitment to a better India. Two channels have been created for online crowdfunding: the dedicated portal donateinc.in and the official Indian National Congress website www.inc.in.
Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge will officially launch the campaign on December 18th in New Delhi. The campaign, primarily online until December 28th, will transition to ground campaigns, including a door-to-door initiative targeting at least ten houses in every booth across the country. Contributions will be at least Rs. 138 from each house.
PCC chiefs are urged to raise awareness through press conferences and digital campaigns. State-level office bearers, elected representatives, frontal organisations’ office-bearers, DCC Presidents, PCC Presidents, and all AICC office bearers are encouraged to contribute, with a suggested minimum of Rs. 1,380.
In a strategic move, PCC presidents are tasked with identifying potential donors among party well-wishers and functionaries, aiming for contributions of Rs. 1,380 or Rs. 13,800. This approach is expected to make the crowdfunding campaign one of the largest in Indian political history.
As the Indian National Congress completes its 138-year journey, a national rally is scheduled for December 28th in Nagpur, with a minimum of 10 lakh Congress leaders and workers expected to participate. This mega event will witness the presence of senior party leaders from across the country, making it a significant milestone in the party’s history.
