Bengaluru | Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri Siddaramaiah, held an important meeting today with ministers and senior officers from the Health and Medical Education Departments to review the current Covid-19 situation in the state.

After getting updates from experts and officials, the Chief Minister gave several important instructions to ensure the state is well prepared.

The Chief Minister said, “There is no need to worry about Corona at the moment. But we should be ready for any possible future situation. All necessary facilities and equipment must be prepared in advance.”

He directed that essential items like ventilators, oxygen supply and medicines should be kept ready. He advised that elderly people, pregnant women and those with heart or lung diseases should wear masks as a safety measure. Awareness should also be created about this.

He instructed officials to keep a close watch on the situation by reviewing it every week — or every three days if needed.

CM Siddaramaiah also said that pregnant women with health issues should not be moved from one hospital to another. All hospitals must have the right facilities for them.

He suggested that children showing signs of cold, cough, or fever should not be sent to school. Schools must send such children home with their parents to avoid the spread of infection.

“We must be prepared to face any kind of situation,” the Chief Minister added.

He informed that since January this year, some Covid cases are being reported in Karnataka. In the fourth week of May alone, 62 new cases were recorded, with one serious case. Meanwhile, other states have also seen cases—95 in Kerala, 66 in Tamil Nadu, and 56 in Maharashtra.

CM Siddaramaiah stressed that preventive steps must be taken to stop the spread of Covid in Karnataka. He said special attention must be given to the health of mothers and children.

He also gave the following directions:

* A special Covid helpline should be started for public assistance.

* If required, screening units must be set up at airports for travelers from other places.

* No negligence should be shown in handling the Covid situation.

* All district hospitals must be fully prepared.

* Health department staff should stay on duty and not take leave.

* Vaccines must be kept ready to deal with any new variant of the virus.

* People should be kept informed regularly through social media.

The Chief Minister’s proactive steps aim to ensure that Karnataka remains safe and prepared in case of any future rise in Covid cases.
