New Delhi | Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal, released the AAP manifesto focussing on the middle class ahead of Delhi Assembly Elections. While addressing, Kejriwal addressed the issues faced by the middle class and presented a 7-point demand to the Central Government. He urged people to support the “Middle Class Manifesto” by signing it on the website middleclassmanifesto.com.

In his message, Kejriwal emphasized the need for comprehensive reforms in education, healthcare, taxation and welfare programs for senior citizens. He expressed hope that collective efforts by the middle class would compel the government to address these pressing issues.

  1. Education : Kejriwal demanded an increase in the education budget from 2% to 10% and stricter regulation on private school fees nationwide.
  2. Higher Education : He advocated for subsidies and scholarships to make higher education more affordable for students.
  3. Healthcare : He called for raising the healthcare budget to 10% and urged the removal of taxes on health insurance.
  4. Income Tax : He proposed increasing the income tax exemption limit from Rs. 7 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh, providing relief to middle-class taxpayers.
  5. GST on Essentials : Kejriwal demanded the removal of GST on essential commodities, making everyday items more affordable.
  6. Senior Citizens’ Welfare : He suggested a robust retirement plan and pension schemes for senior citizens and free quality treatment for them in all government and private hospitals.
  7. Railway Concessions : Kejriwal demanded the restoration of the 50% railway concession for senior citizens, which was discontinued earlier.

Kejriwal urged the middle class to unite and amplify their voices to ensure the government takes these demands seriously. He stressed that collective action could bring about the necessary changes.

“Together, the middle class can make the government listen,” he stated, encouraging everyone to sign the manifesto and raise their concerns directly with the Central Government.

This initiative is seen as a significant step to highlight middle-class challenges and push for policy changes that address their needs effectively.
