New Delhi | In his social media message, the General Secretary of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), Maulana Fazlurraheem Mujaddidi, strongly criticized the central government for attempting to take over Waqf properties. He stated that the government is using various methods to achieve this, and the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 has been introduced with this intention.
He warned that if the bill is passed in Parliament, all legal protections for Waqf properties will be permanently removed. As a result, it will become easier for the government to take control of Waqf lands and properties.
Maulana Mujaddidi expressed concern that even some coalition partners of the BJP, such as JD(U) and TDP, are supporting this move. He emphasized that the AIMPLB has always been committed to protecting Waqf properties and will continue its efforts in the future.
To protest against the bill, AIMPLB, along with various religious and social organizations, organized a massive demonstration at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, on March 17, 2025. Many opposition parties participated in the protest and supported AIMPLB’s stand. Maulana Mujaddidi claimed that this protest has increased pressure on the government.
He further stressed the need to awaken the coalition partners of the central government and remind them of their responsibility. He warned that if these parties betray the Muslim community, they will never be forgiven.
As part of their ongoing protest, AIMPLB has decided to hold a sit-in demonstration on March 26, 2025, from 10 AM to 2 PM at Dharna Sthal, Thana Road, Gardanibagh, Patna. Senior leaders of AIMPLB, prominent religious and intellectual figures, and representatives of various organizations from Bihar will participate in this demonstration. Members of the opposition parties will also join the protest.
AIMPLB has appealed to all Muslims in Bihar to participate in large numbers to protect Waqf properties, including mosques, Eidgahs, madrasas, khanqahs, and graveyards. The board urged the community to make this peaceful protest a historic and successful event.
