Vijayawada | All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) General Secretary Maulana Fazlurrahim Mujaddidi participated in a protest against the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024. The protest was held at Dharna Chowk, Gandhinagar, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, on 8th March 2025.
Addressing the gathering, Maulana Mujaddidi strongly opposed the bill and called it “unjust, illegal and unconstitutional.” He urged all justice-loving citizens to support the Muslim community in resisting the bill and pressuring the government to withdraw it.
He directly appealed to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu, reminding him of his image as a strong and secular leader. He highlighted that despite the alliance with the BJP, Muslims have trusted Naidu because of his commitment to secularism and democracy.
“If this bill is passed, the protection of mosques, madrasas, graveyards and other Waqf properties will be in danger,” Maulana Mujaddidi warned. He stressed that the bill is not just a minor issue but a matter of survival for the Muslim community.
Maulana Mujaddidi urged Chief Minister Naidu to take a firm stand against the bill and pressure the central government to withdraw it. He emphasized that the central government cannot act without the support of key leaders like Naidu.
He also pointed out that the Waqf Bill was previously sent to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) due to opposition efforts. However, the recent amendments pushed by the BJP have made the bill even more dangerous for Muslims, completely ignoring their concerns.
The AIMPLB General Secretary warned that if the bill is passed, the Muslim community will challenge it in the Supreme Court and launch a nationwide protest until it is withdrawn.
In his concluding remarks, Maulana Mujaddidi made a strong appeal to Chief Minister Naidu to recognize the seriousness of the issue and prevent the bill from being passed in Parliament. He stated that history will remember Naidu as a fearless, just, and bold secular leader if he stands against this oppressive bill.
