New Delhi | In a poignant appeal to the Honourable President Droupadi Murmu, AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge has raised concerns over the plight of nearly two lakh aspiring youth who were left in limbo due to decisions made by the Government of India regarding recruitment into the Indian Armed Forces.

In his letter addressed to President Murmu, Kharge highlighted the ordeal faced by these young men and women who had successfully cleared rigorous tests and examinations, only to have their dreams shattered by the abrupt termination of the recruitment process in favor of the Agnipath Scheme.

Kharge underscored the grievances expressed by the affected individuals, emphasizing the financial burden they endured with the non-refundable application fees totaling a staggering Rs. 125 crore. He emphasized the emotional toll, citing instances of reported suicides resulting from the ensuing frustration and hopelessness among the youth.

The AICC President also pointed out the contentious nature of the Agnipath Scheme, noting its unanticipated implementation and the disparities it creates among soldiers in terms of emoluments, benefits, and future prospects.

Calling for justice, Kharge implored President Murmu to intervene and ensure that the grievances of these aspiring youth are addressed, emphasizing the need to uphold fairness and rectify the injustice they have endured.

This impassioned plea by Mallikarjun Kharge resonates with the broader issue of accountability and fairness within the recruitment processes of India’s armed forces, urging for swift action to rectify the injustice faced by the affected youth.
