New Delhi | AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge addressed the media at a press conference held today at the AICC Headquarters. He emphasized that this election will be remembered for a long time because every citizen, regardless of caste, religion, sect, region, gender or language, came together to save democracy and the Constitution.
Kharge criticized Prime Minister Modi and BJP leaders for their numerous attempts to mislead people on religious and divisive issues. Despite these efforts, Kharge stated that people chose to focus on real issues and the Congress party sought votes based on these concerns.
Mallikarjun Kharge pointed out that in his 15-day campaign speeches, Narendra Modi mentioned ‘Congress’ 232 times, used the word ‘Modi’ 758 times, and referred to the INDIA alliance and the opposition 573 times. However, he did not speak a single word about inflation or unemployment.
Kharge also noted that during the election campaign, Modi mentioned temple-mosque and divisive topics 421 times and used words like Muslim and minority 224 times. Despite this, the Election Commission did not take any action.
Kharge highlighted that the Congress party thinks about and addresses the problems of the people. He recalled that during Manmohan Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister, the Congress introduced many schemes for the poor, which have been utilized by them.
He congratulated all citizens, the workers of the INDIA alliance and all Congress colleagues who stood fearlessly in their respective areas for democracy and the protection of the Constitution.
Kharge expressed confidence that on 4th June 2024, the people of this country will give a mandate for a new alternative government. He affirmed that the INDIA alliance will form a government with a full majority, providing the country with an inclusive, nationalistic and developmental government. Together, they will move forward with everyone.
