Bengaluru | Randeep Singh Surjewala, AICC General Secretary, in charge of Karnataka and the Congress spokesperson, lauded the Karnataka Budget for 2024, hailing it as a significant step towards inclusive growth, distributive justice and economic equality. In a tweet, Surjewala emphasized the budget’s alignment with the principles of ‘Sarva Janangada Shanthiya Thota,’ echoing the socio-economic development values championed by Lord Basavanna.

Despite what Surjewala termed as “deceitful and draconian ANYAY in fund allocation by the Central BJP Govt,” he commended the Congress Government for delivering what he termed as “NYAY, COMPASSION & INCLUSIVITY” for all sections of society. The budget, amounting to ₹3,71,383 crore, was described as pro-people, with special emphasis on empowering youth and women across all regions of the state.

Surjewala highlighted the government’s efforts in fulfilling its “historical and path-breaking GUARANTEES,” mentioning the direct transfer of over ₹58,000 CR into the bank accounts of fellow Kannadigas, particularly targeting women and youth. He affirmed the government’s commitment to continuing such initiatives despite obstacles from political opponents.

The announcement was met with praise from Surjewala towards the Karnataka Government, particularly acknowledging Chief Minister cum Finance Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC President DK Shivakumar, and the entire Council of Ministers and MLAs for their contributions towards progress and development.

Today’s budget, Surjewala stated, marks a significant milestone for all 6.41 crore Kannadigas, signifying a leap towards greater equity, equality, and socio-economic development in Karnataka.
