New Delhi | In a press conference held today in New Delhi, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, President of the All India Congress Committee, unveiled a ‘Black Paper’ aimed at highlighting what he referred to as the government’s failures across various key areas.
Kharge stated that the decision to release the ‘Black Paper’ stemmed from the government’s consistent focus on its achievements in Parliament while disregarding its own shortcomings. He criticized the government for its alleged failure in managing the economy and emphasized the need to inform the public about these shortcomings.
The ‘Black Paper’ specifically outlines the government’s perceived failures in addressing issues such as unemployment, rising prices, and distress among farmers, according to Kharge.
Expressing concern over what he described as a threat to democracy, Kharge cited instances where he claimed the BJP had orchestrated the defection of 411 MLAs over the past decade, leading to the downfall of several Congress-led state governments. He accused the ruling party of undermining democratic principles.
Kharge asserted that the Congress party, which played a pivotal role in ensuring the country’s independence, is committed to leading the nation out of what he termed the “darkness of injustice” perpetuated by the BJP.
Regarding the government’s handling of public sector initiatives established during Jawaharlal Nehru’s tenure, Kharge criticized the Prime Minister for allegedly neglecting to acknowledge their contributions in providing employment opportunities. He also highlighted delays in releasing funds for programs such as MNREGA, which he claimed had caused rural distress.
Kharge revealed that following his critique of the government in Parliament, he received abusive calls, prompting to file complaints with the police. However, he affirmed his determination to continue serving the public despite facing challenges as a scheduled caste leader.
