Nagaland : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who commenced his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Manipur on January 14th, addressed the media today in Chiephobozou, Nagaland. This marked his first media briefing during the ongoing journey, where he emphasized the pressing issues of unfulfilled promises and the need for justice across the nation. This initiative follows the impactful Kanyakumari to Kashmir yatra conducted last year, aiming to unite the people of India and reshape the political discourse.

During the media briefing, Rahul Gandhi expressed the rationale behind starting the yatra in Manipur, emphasizing the tragic events that have unfolded in the region. He lamented the loss of lives, properties and the prevailing violence. Criticizing the Prime Minister for not visiting the state, Gandhi deemed it a sad and shameful affair. The decision to embark on a journey from east to west signifies the Congress party’s commitment to addressing state-specific issues.

While Rahul Gandhi initially envisioned a walking yatra, time constraints led to the decision to make it a hybrid journey. Despite the challenges, the Congress leader expressed the party’s intent to walk as much as possible, with certain regions posing difficulties for walking due to various issues. The Nyay Yatra aims to champion justice—social, political, and economic—and bring attention to the unique concerns of each state.

Highlighting Nagaland’s specific grievances, Rahul Gandhi underscored commitments made by the Prime Minister nine years ago that remain unfulfilled. The people of Nagaland, as per Gandhi, have conveyed their disappointment with broken promises and incomplete initiatives. The Nyay Yatra, therefore, serves as a platform to advocate for justice and amplify the voices of those who feel neglected by the current political landscape.
