Addressing the media after the meeting, K. C. Venugopal said that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had called for an aggressive nationwide campaign under the slogan “Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao” against alleged vote theft.
Venugopal said Rahul Gandhi had made it clear that the agitation would continue until Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is removed and the electoral system is corrected.
The Congress alleged that illegally taking away people’s right to vote was an anti-national act and accused Gyanesh Kumar of “vote theft” and of benefiting the BJP. The party demanded his resignation and arrest and said that those responsible should be held accountable.
Venugopal also criticised the Election Commission, alleging that it had become the “Cheating Commission of India”.

As part of the campaign, the Congress has announced three phases of mobilisation. The first phase, from October 2 to 8, will consist of Save Democracy Marches.
The second phase, from October 10 to 20, will be held under the “Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao” campaign. It will include bike rallies, cycle rallies, padyatras and distribution of pamphlets.
The third phase will be held from October 25 to November 25. During this phase, village-level Chaupals will be organised to identify the 13 crore 13 lakh voters whom the Congress alleges have been deleted from the electoral rolls.
The Congress has also announced major mobilisation programmes as part of the campaign. A mega rally will be held in Delhi on November 1.
In another major programme, the party has announced a “Chalo Delhi March” on November 25 and 26, with six yatras planned from different states towards Delhi.
