New Delhi | Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi have written a joint letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding an independent and comprehensive investigation into the financial affairs of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
In his message, AICC President and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said that lakhs of devotees who donated their hard-earned money with faith, devotion and trust deserve complete transparency. He said the Congress has requested the Prime Minister to order an independent investigation into the Trust’s financial affairs.
In the letter dated July 18, 2026, Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi referred to allegations regarding the financial management of the Trust and urged the Prime Minister to ensure an impartial investigation. They said the findings of the inquiry and the Trust’s accounts should be made public so that devotees know how their donations, including cash, gold and silver, have been utilised.
The two Congress leaders stated that the Trust was formed following the directions of the Supreme Court and announced by the Prime Minister in Parliament. They also said that accountability and transparency are essential to maintain the confidence of the people.
Kharge and Rahul Gandhi urged the Prime Minister to immediately order an independent and comprehensive probe into the financial affairs of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
