New Delhi : Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar held an important meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi to discuss key development and infrastructure issues related to Bengaluru city.

During the meeting, DK Shivakumar raised serious concerns about the height restrictions imposed around defence airports in Bengaluru, especially near HAL and Yelahanka airbases. He said that these restrictions are affecting construction activities and slowing down development in many parts of the city. He explained that the current rules are placing large areas under strict height limits, which is creating challenges for urban planning and future growth.

He highlighted that Bengaluru is growing as a global technology hub, and such restrictions should not unnecessarily affect the city’s development. He requested the Defence Minister to take necessary steps to find a balanced solution that ensures both aviation safety and urban growth.

The Deputy Chief Minister also discussed several major infrastructure and connectivity projects. These included the proposed Bengaluru Urban Vehicular Twin Tunnel project from Hebbal to Silk Board, which aims to reduce traffic congestion in the city. He requested early approval for land transfer needed for this project.

Other important projects discussed were road improvements near IOC Junction, construction of a railway overbridge at Baiyappanahalli, and better connectivity to Sir M. Visvesvaraya Railway Terminal. He also raised the need for early approval for a link road connecting Airport Road to Sarovara Layout, and the Ejipura to Sarjapura Road project along Bellandur Lake.

DK Shivakumar stressed that these projects are very important to reduce traffic problems, improve connectivity, and support planned development in Bengaluru. He requested the Defence Minister’s support for early approvals and smooth implementation of these projects.
