PM Narendra Modi in Kolkata: Says Record Voting in First Phase Has Made TMC Nervous, Calls Ganga the Soul of Bengal

Kolkata | Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while campaigning for the second phase of West Bengal Assembly elections, shared his emotional connection with the Ganga river and the people of Bengal. He said that for every Bengali, the Ganga holds a very special place and it flows through the soul of Bengal. He added that the holy river carries the spirit and heritage of the country’s civilisation.

During his visit to Kolkata, the Prime Minister spent some peaceful time on the banks of the Hooghly River. He expressed his gratitude to Maa Ganga and also interacted with local boatmen, appreciating their hard work. He also met morning walkers and connected with the common people.

PM Modi shared that he even tried photography of the river and enjoyed views of the iconic Vidyasagar Setu and Howrah Bridge. He described the morning in Kolkata as very special and unforgettable.

He also recalled his roadshow on the Howrah Bridge the previous evening and said it was a unique experience to see the same bridge again from the Hooghly river the next morning.

Later, while addressing a public gathering in Dum Dum, PM Modi said that the love and blessings of the people are unmatched. He said that the record voting in the first phase of elections has made the ruling Trinamool Congress nervous.

He also criticised the TMC government, saying that urban areas in West Bengal have been neglected due to corruption and poor governance. He assured that the Bharatiya Janata Party will focus on development of cities and work to fulfil the dreams of the people.

PM Modi said that the grand welcome he received in Dum Dum shows that people are ready for change and are supporting development and progress in the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kolkata and his interaction with the people at the Hooghly River have added strong momentum to the election campaign.
