New Delhi : Opposition Leader in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, met representatives from rural parts of Delhi at a programme called ‘Jan-Sansad’. During the meeting, he listened carefully to the problems shared by the village leaders.

The representatives told Rahul Gandhi that there is a big conspiracy to take away the lands of villages situated on the borders of Delhi. They said that farmers and villagers are living in fear because their lands are being forcibly taken in the name of new development projects.

The villagers reminded that during the UPA government, a farmer-friendly Land Acquisition Act was brought to protect the interests of the poor. They said that this law gave fair compensation and proper rights to farmers.

However, they alleged that the present Modi government is trying to weaken these protections and is snatching away the rights of the poor by calling it “development.”

Rahul Gandhi assured the representatives that he fully supports their struggle. He said he will raise this issue strongly in Parliament and will fight to ensure justice for every citizen of rural Delhi.

He added that no development should happen by suppressing the rights of villagers and that the voice of the poor must always be heard.

The meeting ended with the rural representatives expressing hope that their concerns will finally get national attention. Hopefully, Rahul Gandhi’s support has given them confidence to continue their fight for justice. As the Winter Session of Parliament progresses, villagers are now looking forward to a strong discussion on land rights and fair treatment for the people of rural Delhi.
