PM Modi Inaugurates Bengaluru Metro Yellow Line, Lays Foundation for Phase-3 and flagged off three Vande Bharat Express Trains

Bengaluru | Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Metro Phase-2 project, covering a route length of over 19 km from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra, with 16 stations. The project, worth around Rs. 7,160 crore, will make metro travel easier for thousands of commuters. With this addition, the operational metro network in Bengaluru has now grown to over 96 km, serving a large population in different parts of the city.

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the Bengaluru Metro Phase-3 project worth over Rs. 15,610 crore. This phase will have a 44 km route length with 31 elevated stations, connecting residential, industrial, commercial and educational areas, addressing the growing transportation needs of the city.

In addition, PM Modi flagged off three Vande Bharat Express trains from Bengaluru. These include the Bengaluru–Belagavi, Amritsar–Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune routes. These modern, high-speed trains will boost regional connectivity, reduce travel time, and offer passengers a comfortable world-class travel experience.

Addressing the gathering during the event, PM Modi highlighted the success of Operation Sindoor, India’s increasing military strength, and the ability to tackle threats effectively. He said, “Today, India is the fastest-growing major economy in the world. In the last 11 years, our economy has risen from 10th place to the top five. We are now moving rapidly towards becoming one of the top three economies.”

PM Modi also said the journey to a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) will progress alongside Digital India, and stressed that self-reliance in technology should be the country’s next big priority.

The launch of new metro lines, foundation laying for future projects, and introduction of high-speed Vande Bharat trains reflect the government’s focus on improving connectivity and infrastructure in Bengaluru and across India. These developments are expected to boost economic growth, ease travel for citizens, and strengthen India’s position as a modern, forward-looking nation.
