New Delhi : Randeep Singh Surjewala, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), AICC General Secretary and Member of the Congress Working Committee, has made a strong statement against the Modi government regarding its treatment of farmers. During a briefing at the AICC Headquarters, Surjewala highlighted the plight of farmers from North India who are marching to Delhi to demand justice.

Surjewala reminded the public that the Modi government had promised to bring a law guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP) after withdrawing the three controversial farm laws. However, it has been two years, and no such law has been enacted.

“Today, once again, the farmers of the country are sitting on the border of Delhi. Farmers want to come to Delhi peacefully and present their demands to the Modi government, reminding them of their promise,” Surjewala said. He condemned the government’s actions of stopping farmers by installing barricades, nails and wires, while pointing out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has time to watch movies but not to meet with the farmers.

Surjewala also criticized the Agriculture Minister for avoiding questions in Parliament about guaranteeing MSP and providing debt relief to farmers. He demanded that the Prime Minister pass the MSP guarantee law in the current parliament session by engaging in conversations with the farmers.

Surjewala’s Questions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi :

  1. If the Prime Minister has time to watch movies, why does he not have time to talk to the farmers of the country ?
  2. Why can’t a farmer come to Delhi and appeal for justice to his Prime Minister ?
  3. Why is the Prime Minister avoiding meeting the farmers ?
  4. When will the farmers get the guarantee law of MSP ?
  5. Why can’t the MSP guarantee law be brought in this parliament session ?
  6. If corporate companies can be given tax relief of 3 lakh crore annually and 17 lakh crore rupees can be deposited in bank accounts, why can’t farmers’ loans be waived ?

Randeep Singh Surjewala’s statements reflect the growing frustration among farmers and the opposition towards the Modi government’s unfulfilled promises and priorities.
