Ranchi | Congress leader and Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi addressed the media today during a press conference in Ranchi, Jharkhand. He emphasized that the upcoming elections are a battle of ideologies. He stated, “This is a fight of ideologies. On one side, there is the Congress party and the India coalition, which aims to protect the Constitution and work for the poor, farmers, laborers, backward classes, Dalits and Adivasis. On the other side, there are forces that want to crush and destroy Dr. Ambedkar’s Constitution.”

Rahul Gandhi accused senior BJP and RSS leaders of wanting to amend and discard the Constitution. He highlighted key issues, saying, “In the Lok Sabha, I said that the Congress party and the India coalition will conduct a caste census. We want to know the number of backward classes, Dalits and Adivasis in this country and their representation in various institutions, including corporate India and the judiciary.”

Rahul Gandhi outlined the Congress party’s strategy for Jharkhand, promising to increase reservations for STs from 26% to 28%, SCs from 10% to 12% and OBCs from 14% to 27%. He blamed the BJP for obstructing these efforts.

He criticized Prime Minister Modi for favoring a few wealthy industrialists at the expense of the common people. “Modi is handing over the nation’s wealth, land, water and forests to a few big billionaires. We want to run a government for the poor, not for billionaires.”

He also promised significant welfare measures if the Congress comes to power in Jharkhand. These include:

– A monthly deposit of Rs 2500 into the bank accounts of women.

– Providing 7 kilos of food grains per person per month.

– Reducing the price of gas cylinders to Rs 450.

– Implementing a historic health insurance scheme with coverage up to Rs 15 lakhs for hospital treatments.

– Increasing the MSP for paddy from Rs 2400 to Rs 3200 per quintal.

– Creating 10 lakh jobs for the youth over the next five years.

– Establishing 500-acre industrial parks in every district, degree college in every block and professional colleges in every district.
