Long Island, New York | Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a large gathering of over 15,000 members of the Indian community in Long Island today. The event showcased the warmth and enthusiasm of the attendees, highlighting the strong bond between India and the United States.
In his speech, PM Modi emphasized the crucial role of the Indian American community in enhancing the India-US relationship. He shared his recent meeting with President Biden in Delaware, which he described as a reflection of the trust the Indian community has built with the US.

The Prime Minister outlined his vision for a developed India by 2047, marking the importance of his historic third term. He highlighted significant progress in India over the past decade, such as advancements in infrastructure and lifting 250 million people out of poverty. He noted India’s impressive rise from being the 10th largest economy to the 5th largest, with ambitions to become the third largest economy globally.

The Prime Minister acknowledged India’s significant contributions to global growth, peace, and climate action. He stated that India’s voice is now more influential in the global arena than ever before.
In a bid to strengthen ties with the Indian diaspora, PM Modi announced plans to establish two new Indian consulates in Boston and Los Angeles, along with a Thiruvalluvar Chair of Tamil Studies at the University of Houston. He expressed hope that the Indian community would continue to play a vital role in enhancing the relationship between India and the US.
