New Delhi | In a strong statement at the AICC Headquarters in New Delhi, Randeep Singh Surjewala, the AICC General Secretary in-charge for Karnataka, while addressing the media, highlighted the ongoing political turmoil in Karnataka. He emphasized that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi held a detailed discussion with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar. The discussions revolved around the current political situation in Karnataka.
Surjewala alleged that the BJP, in collaboration with the JDS, is using the office of the Governor to execute a planned assault on the elected Congress government in Karnataka. He claimed that frustrated by their defeat in the state, the BJP leadership, including the Prime Minister and Home Minister, are now resorting to underhanded tactics to destabilize the government.

He further stated that this conspiracy is not just an attack on the Congress government but is aimed at undermining the welfare schemes initiated by the party, which directly benefit over four crore Kannadigas. The BJP and JDS, according to Surjewala, are particularly threatened by the Congress’s guarantees, which transfer over ₹53,000 crore annually to the people of Karnataka.
Surjewala criticized the Governor for his biased actions, pointing out that he has failed to take action against former Chief Minister Yediyurappa, HD Kumaraswamy, BJP leader Nirani and others. He accused the Governor of acting as a puppet for the BJP and JDS.
The Congress, he assured, remains committed to its guarantees and will resist any attempts to undermine them. The party has full faith in the judiciary and is prepared to take the battle to the people if necessary.
