New Delhi | Sonia Gandhi has been re-elected as the Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP). In her address to the Congress Parliamentary Party meeting, she expressed her gratitude for the responsibility entrusted to her once again. Gandhi congratulated all newly elected Lok Sabha MPs, acknowledging the tough election they fought under challenging circumstances. She commended their effective campaigns, which have significantly increased the party’s presence and voice in the Lok Sabha.
She highlighted the importance of the Bharat Jodo Yatra and the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, historic movements that rejuvenated the party at all levels. Special thanks were given to Rahul Gandhi for his tenacity and determination amidst unprecedented personal and political attacks. Sonia Gandhi praised Rahul’s efforts in shaping the party’s narrative on guarantees and the protection of the Constitution, which she believes compelled the Prime Minister to acknowledge the importance of the Constitution publicly.
The Congress Working Committee (CWC) resolution passed earlier in the day expressed gratitude to party workers across the country for their diligent efforts. Gandhi reiterated this sentiment, saluting the courage and commitment of party workers in both rural and urban areas.
Acknowledging the collective effort in the campaign, she extended full support to those who contested but did not win, recognizing their valiant efforts that made the party proud. Sonia Gandhi also reflected on the need to improve performance in states where results were below expectations, a point emphasized by the Congress President at the CWC meeting.
