Ghaziabad | A joint press conference was organised in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav. While addressing the media, Rahul Gandhi emphasized the stark choice facing voters in the upcoming elections. He framed the contest as one between two ideologies: the RSS-BJP alliance on one side, who want to destroy the constitution and the INDIA alliance on the other, which he portrayed as defenders of the constitution and democracy.

Highlighting the pressing issues of the elections, Rahul pointed out unemployment as the foremost concern, closely followed by inflation and the need for accountability. However, he criticized the BJP for diverting attention from these vital matters with constant distractions. He cited instances like the Prime Minister’s unusual activities, such as going underwater or flying in planes, as examples of such diversions.

Rahul further criticized the Prime Minister’s recent interview with a news agency, where he attempted to justify the controversial Electoral Bonds system. Despite claims of transparency and political cleansing, Gandhi questioned why the Supreme Court had rejected the system if it truly served those purposes.

Moreover, Rahul raised concerns about the lack of transparency regarding the donors of significant funds to the BJP, questioning why their names and the dates of contributions were concealed. He labeled the Electoral Bonds scheme as the world’s largest extortion scheme, accusing the Prime Minister of being complicit in corruption.

Overall, Rahul Gandhi’s press conference shed light on critical election issues and criticized the BJP’s handling of transparency and accountability in governance.

Addressing the media, Akhilesh Yadav, President of the Samajwadi Party, highlighted the imminent first phase of elections in Uttar Pradesh and the significant shift in the political landscape across the state and the nation.

Yadav expressed concern over the distress faced by farmers, emphasizing that the assurances made by the BJP have proven to be empty promises. He lamented the false hopes given to the youth, who continue to struggle with unemployment and unfulfilled developmental aspirations.

Yadav asserted that the upcoming elections mirror the public’s yearning for change. He expressed optimism about the potential for the INDIA alliance to usher in a new government that addresses the pressing concerns of the people.
